An extended vertical grid for COSMO

چکیده

This study presents an extended vertical grid for the regional atmospheric model COSMO, used for numerical weather prediction, reaching up to 33 km. The extended setup has been used to stably simulate eleven months in a domain covering central and northern Europe. Temperature and relative humidity have been validated using 5 radio sonde data in polar and temperate latitudes, focussing on the stratosphere. Temperature values are reproduced very well by the model. Relative humidity could only be met in the mean over the whole time period after excluding data from Russian stations , which showed significantly higher values. A study of orographically induced lee waves over Iceland, well visible in the model but not in the regridded boundary data 10 (ERA-Interim and NCEP reanalysis), showcases the advantage and applicability of the model in the extended vertical grid.

COSMOsim3D for drug-similarity, alignment, and molecular field analysis

By the practical success of the COSMO-RS fluid phase thermodynamics model [1,2] in many areas of chemistry, the COSMO polarization charge densities s have been proven to be excellent descriptors for the quantification of the most important kinds of molecular interactions in the liquid phase, as polar interactions, hydrogen bonding and hydrophobicity. In several comparisons and blind tests COSMO...

Design and Manipulation 3D Imaging System by using Photodiode Grid

Introduction: Radiation imaging is one of the applicable methods in diagnostic medicine and nondestructive testing for industrial applications. In nondestructive 3D imaging, in addition to the radiation source, there is a requirement for a suitable detection system, data acquisition system, mechanical sections for moving objects, reconstruction algorithm and finally a computer for processing an...

Scientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations

The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

3D-QSAR reloaded: Open3DALIGN meets COSMOsar3D

A novel set of 3D descriptors, based on local grid-based COSMO s-profiles (LSPs), has been recently proposed as a promising alternative to force-field based MIFs in 3DQSAR [1]. These descriptors are grounded in the quantum chemistry-based COSMO-RS theory, which has become one of the methods of choice for the prediction of fluid phase equilibrium constants (e.g., partition coefficients, solubili...

Extended Finite Element Method for Statics and Vibration Analyses on Cracked Bars and Beams

In this paper, the extended finite element method (XFEM) is employed to investigate the statics and vibration problems of cracked isotropic bars and beams. Three kinds of elements namely the standard, the blended and the enriched elements are utilized to discretize the structure and model cracks. Two techniques referred as the increase of the number of Gauss integration points and the rectangle...
